Our family is officially one little person larger! Penelope Ann Swenson was born December 30th 2010. She was 8lbs. 15 oz. and 20 and a half inches long. Chris and I got to the hospital around 5:30 am for my c-section that was scheduled at 7:30 am. I was very lucky because my doctor is retiring from obstetrics and the 31st was his official last day. If my due date had been any later I would have had to have a different doctor deliver Penelope. Dr. Naisbitt delivered me, my siblings, Ciara's kids and all of my kids so far so I'm extremely sad to see him retire. I asked him if he'd stay for just a little longer so he could deliver my 4th but it was a no-go lol.
We are so so SO thrilled to have our 2nd little girl here! She came out looking identical to her siblings and it's been a blast watching them interact with her. It's really hard to describe the joy that comes from watching your kids grow up together. I know I say it all the time and I'm sure there are some people who could probably get sick of me saying it, but I just love being a mommy. Having a baby never gets old. It's amazing how much your heart can grow to love somebody so much. I remember after having Cai I couldn't imagine loving anything more than her, but with each birth it literally feels like your heart gets bigger to accommodate all the love there is.
Penelope so far is very mellow. I think she's going to have a different personality entirely than her two older siblings. She may surprise us, but as of now that's what I'm thinkin'. She's a really great nurser which has been an awesome blessing for me! I mostly pumped with Gabe and Cai and had to supplement with formula a lot. This has been a really cool, new and more affordable experience lol. She's doing pretty good through the nights and will hopefully be a good sleeper as she gets a little older.
With each baby it's amazing to learn how much more you can love somebody that you already thought you loved to the max :). Chris has been a really big help to me and I think we grow even closer the bigger our family gets. I don't know if I'd be able to have three little kids on my own -I get more forgetful and tired with each one, but between Chris and my mom I've had a TON of help. I don't know the last time I made dinner. Seriously, I think we get take out everyday. Seriously. Except for the nights my mom makes dinner for us, which has been quite a few nights. I also haven't gotten ready all that much since Penelope has been here. I am definitely a full-time mom. Thank you to my wonderful husband and mom for all their help -watching the kids so I can catch up on some zzz's, picking stuff up at the grocery store, reminding me not to worry so much. Don't know what I'd do without them.
